Our History

Teachers’ Union Health (TUH) is the number one health fund for union members and their families in Queensland. It was proudly established in 1972 by the Queensland Teachers’ Union (QTU) as a fund exclusively focused on providing quality health insurance for members of the QTU and QIEU.

In 1984, the fund opened a dental centre, and by 2000 expanded its allied services to include optical, physiotherapy, podiatry, massage and dietetics, offering members access to a range of health services. In 2000, TUH expanded its eligibility to include union members of the ASU Services, ASU Clerical and Administration, QPSU and CPSU. In late 2007 TUH opened up the fund to family members as well.

Grounded strongly in a union philosophy of being member focussed, the fund is committed to the provision of quality health insurance cover at an affordable price and with a high level of customer service. With over 20,000 members, the fund has become a strong organisation that aims to be the fund of choice for union members and their families long into the future.
