TUH cares about our community. As one of our core values TUH is commited to supporting these organisations which promote the health and well-being of Australians.
Healthy Smiles for Life
In September 2009 TUH dentists, dental assistants and other staff donated their time to provide dental care to vulnerable Australians who are unable to access regular dental care. TUH partnered with some major charities who identified these people who were most in need of this service. The patients appreciated the opportunity to receive up to one hour of free treatment. This enhanced their self esteem, and as one patient stated, ‘it gave me a chance to get a job'. The TUH employees also found the experience rewarding and felt good about being able to give something back that we are good at.
School volunteer
In recognition of TUH's community values we launched a school volunteer reading program in partnership with the Fortitude Valley State School in 2009, which was a great success. Read more here...
Blood donor
Every year Australia needs more than 1 million blood donations (that’s 20,000 donations a week) to meet demand and maintain safe stock levels. Three times annually TUH staff members donate their time and blood by participating in the Australian Red Cross Blood drives.
Charities
Staff at TUH also supports a range of charities on an ongoing basis: Movember, Daffodil Day, Think Pink, Bandana Day
