Queensland Teachers' Union Health Fund Limited (TUH) is subject to the Privacy Act 1988. The Privacy Act contains a set of principles for the handling of your personal information. Your personal information is important to the Fund and these principles require us to handle any personal information that we hold about members in a confidential and secure manner.
The Fund will:
- Only collect, use and disclose personal information about you required in the provision of the services or products you are entitled to; administration of the fund; or to meet any legal obligations imposed on the Fund. Should we pursue to collect, use or disclose your personal information for any other purposes we will seek your consent.

- Take reasonable steps to ensure the member is aware of any information the Fund collects even if the Fund has collected it from someone else (a third party).
- Take reasonable steps to ensure the personal information that the Fund collects, uses or discloses is accurate, complete and up-to-date.
- Take reasonable steps to protect the personal information about you from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
- Take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify personal information if the Fund no longer needs it for any purpose for which we may use or disclose the information.
- On request, take reasonable steps to let the individual know what sort of personal information we hold, what purposes we hold it for and how we collect, use and disclose that information.
- If an individual asks us, we will give access to the personal information the Fund holds about that individual unless particular circumstances apply (these include emergency situations, specified business imperatives and law enforcement or other public interests).
Web-site information collection and dissemination practices
The Fund uses your IP (Internet Protocol) address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our website. We analyse our website logs to improve the relevance of the content featured on the site. Whilst our website logs are IP identifiable, no attempt is made to link them with any individual that browse the site. The site uses cookies simply to ensure a persistent client state. The Fund also sends session numbers and keys as cookies to ensure that your connection, when using our on-line services, is kept as secure as possible.
Registration Forms
The Fund site's registration form requires users to provide contact information (such as name; email; and postal address). This information is stored on a database that allows the Fund to send out mailing list updates and also as a mechanism for members to sign-on to our on-line services. The contact information is also used by the Fund to get in touch with the site visitor when necessary.
On-line Services Forms
This site uses forms for customers to request information and transacts with the Fund. We collect information (eg. email address); financial information (eg. account and/or credit card numbers); and demographic information (eg. postcode or age).
External links
This site contains links to other sites. The Fund is not responsible for the information handling practices or the content of these external sites. We endeavour to monitor these sites to ensure that they are appropriate to our site, its visitors and members.
Discussion Groups (mailing lists)
This site makes discussion groups available to its users (mailing lists). Any information disclosed in this media becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information. Your email address is not publicly available to anyone until you send a message to these lists. At this point visitors are informed that they may reply personally if they feel a reply to the list is inappropriate.
The Fund maintains several email lists to keep subscribers informed about areas of specific interest. Individuals must request to join our mailing lists by signing up through our website. The Fund does not sell, rent, loan, trade, or lease the addresses on our list to anyone.
Web-site access by children
This site encourages children to obtain their parent's permission before sharing personal information on-line.
